Styling Lesson Video
Styling Tight to Coiled Curls

The secret of successful styling is to maintain “Healthy Hair”. While in the shower cleanse your hair with the gentle Botanical Shampoo once or twice a week, followed by the Botanical Rinse. Also use Deep Therapy Masque once a week to avoid dryness and frizziness. Christo suggests the following products, tools and styling steps for this texture:

Step 1 – Preparing Wet Hair with Repair Styling Cream
Pour a quarter-sized amount of Repair Styling Cream into your hand. Work it into the entire palm and, using your fingers as tools, rake them through your hair beginning one inch away from the roots all the way to the ends. Make sure to evenly distribute the product. Repair Styling Cream is a leave-in conditioner that retexturizes hair and inhibits further breakage.

Step 2 – Sectioning
Use a finger comb to gently detangle your hair, then use the long tail of the comb to divide hair into five sections: the nape of the neck, the two sides by the ears, the back center and the top front of the head. Twist each section and secure it with a duckbill clip. Dividing your hair into five sections will make it easier to apply the products evenly, and will give more definition to your curls.

Step 3 – Applying Structura Lotion and Control II Gel
Begin by removing the clip from the section of hair by the nape of the neck. First, mix a quarter-sized amount of Structura Lotion and a nickel-sized amount of Control I Gel in the palm of your hand. Use your fingers to comb and distribute the product all the way from the roots to the ends of the hair. Shake the hair while holding on to the ends to help create more bounce to your curls. Repeat the same procedure for each separate section of hair. Finger-comb your curls repeatedly to evenly apply the products. Structura Lotion helps define your curls and keeps them soft without any stiffness or crunchiness. Control Gel II enhances the curls and protects them from humidity in the air. Since curly hair tends to be naturally dry, feel free to reapply the products as needed, but not to excess.

Step 4 – Lift Crown Area & Diffuse
In order to achieve more lift as the hair dries, slide duck bill clips as close to the scalp as possible at the crown of the head. Use four clips along the top of the head going down towards the back, in a horizontal direction. Each clip should be approximately ½ to 1 inch apart. Then use one clip on either side of the head, by the ears, in a vertical position. Attach a diffuser to your blow dryer, and start diffusing while gently moving the blower from side to side. Using a diffuser will help soften the curls and even out the volume of the hairstyle.

Step 5 – Finishing with Unruly Paste, Structura Spray and Glow & Shine
Scoop out a small, nickel-sized dollop of Unruly Paste and work it into both palms. Smooth your hands over your hair, working all the way from the front to the back. Twist and smooth your curls at the ends and shake them out with your finger tips. The Unruly Paste will smooth away any fly-aways that occur after styling with a diffuser. Next, use the Structura Spray. Hold the bottle about 10 inches away from your curls and spritz lightly for a long-lasting hold. For the final touch, spray hair with Glow and Shine to add extra protection and shine to your style.

Now you have achieved natural, soft and bouncy curls. Enjoy your new look!
